Manor is located just
outside the city limits of Austin on U.S. Hwy. 290 East, approximately
12 miles northeast of the University of Texas campus. The city
of Manor was named after James Manor, a cotton farmer. It was
established in the mid to late 1800s and by the early 1900s
was a hub for the central Texas cotton and railroad industries.
For the past 100 years, Manor's
population maintained around a 1,000 people. Now for the first
time in 20 years, the city of Manor is growing. To support
the projected growth, the city decided to pass their first
bond since the 1940s in the amount of $6.5 million dollars
for capital improvements associated with streets, drainage,
water and wastewater infrastructure. http://www.cityofmanor.com/
